Our Name
Sustainable Spaces
Sustainable Spaces was the name of our company for 5 years. We liked this name a lot. So people naturally ask us why we changed our name to “Recurve”.
- The majority of consumers we surveyed didn’t know how to define sustainability. (Just for the record, here’s a link to the definition of “sustainable development” on Wikipedia)
- Many people had difficulty spelling “sustainable”
- Others had difficulty remembering that the second word in our name was “spaces”
- It was hard to trademark “Sustainable Spaces” since this might have been a description of the category
- And so on …
Recurve is shorter, easier to spell, and easier to remember. But what’s really important is to know that while the name has changed — our company and what we stand for has not. Today, Recurve is 70+ people strong and remains committed to fighting global warming one house at a time. We provide home energy audits and green energy remodeling and other construction services to home owners who want to improve the comfort, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, or carbon footprint of their homes.
