SUSTAINABLE SPACES HONORED WITH CALIFORNIA'S PRESTIGIOUS FLEX YOUR POWER AWARD

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — December 12, 2008 — Sustainable Spaces, a San Francisco-based home performance contractor and national leader in the growing field of home health and energy efficiency, was recognized today as a Flex Your Power Award recipient in the Best Overall category.

The award acknowledges the company’s excellence in energy efficiency and its significant contributions across multiple Flex Your Power categories. Sustainable Spaces has tested over 2,000 homes and performed over 400 retrofits in the Bay Area, lowering clients’ energy usage and expenses by an average of 40%, and educating countless homeowners on the interrelationship between energy efficiency, quality of life, and environmental impact.

Flex Your Power, California’s statewide energy efficiency campaign, selected Sustainable Spaces for the sixth annual awards from among over 200 applicants. In the Best Overall category, the company is recognized with four other organizations, including the California Academy of Sciences and the University of California, Irvine. Collectively, this year’s 46 winners saved more than 1.613 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, 122 gallons of water, and 227 million dollars.

Walter McGuire, Director of Flex Your Power said, “Cumulatively, over the last three years, winners saved $501 million and 3.447 billion kWh — the equivalent of taking 231,254 cars off the road.”
