Sustainable Spaces Merges with Renu
LEADING HOME PERFORANCE COMPANIES MERGE TO FORM ONE TRUSTED NAME IN HOME TESTING AND HOME PERFORMANCE RETROFITTING
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Francisco, CA — October 27, 2008 — Sustainable Spaces, a San Francisco-based home performance contractor and national leader in the growing field of home energy efficiency and health, today announced its merger with Renu, a San Anselmo, CA company. The merger is effective immediately. The new company will be called Sustainable Spaces.
Sustainable Spaces, established in 2004, applies the most advanced methods in building science to conduct home energy audits and retrofit projects that bring homes up to today’s high standards of energy efficiency, health and comfort. Renu, a company previously operating under the name Applied Home Performance, has provided homeowners with comparable services for over three years. Both companies share the combined goals of energy efficiency, thermal comfort and improved indoor air quality for residential buildings.
Renu owner Robert Mitchell first met Sustainable Spaces’ president Matt Golden in a California Building Performance Contractors Association training course over four years ago and their companies’ aims and projects have overlapped since. The two companies have been competitors as well as collaborators on several projects.
“Our companies have complementary skill sets,” said Golden. “We’re excited to be combining the two leading home performance companies in the Bay Area to form the preeminent player in the industry.”
Sustainable Spaces CEO Pratap Mukherjee echoed Golden’s enthusiasm. “Robert Mitchell did a wonderful job building a quality company and he and his staff have been dedicated to great customer service,” stated Mukherjee. “The two companies share a passion for improving the energy efficiency, health, and comfort of homes.”
“It’s a good match,” said Mitchell, “Sustainable Spaces and Renu have been doing the same work for years. Our combined knowledge and experience will create the most effective and efficient provider for home performance retrofitting.”
